October 8 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Sat., Oct. 8: Peg Kapustiak presents “Foods of our Forefathers: The Cultural Context of Traditional and Ethnic Foods” – Interesting histories regarding traditional (or weird and wonderful) ethnic foods and beverages

Your food memories, family recipes and cultural heritages are unique, so why and how are they different from other families? Can you tell which section of a country your ancestors lived in by the foods they ate? And why are holiday foods so special and different? We will give you eleven reasons for why your families ate the foods they did.
Our speaker, Peg Kapustiak has B.S. and a Master’s Degree in Foods and Nutrition, plus she has been researching her family genealogy and local Southside Chicago history for over 40 years. She has found a number of iinteresting family history connections between food and genealogy, which may be of help to you. Please come and please share your family food memories; of desserts, soups, main dishes, vegetables, holiday meals, etc.; that are special to you.
